About Us 

Purps Produce is an Urban Farm based out of Winnipeg, MB founded in 2016 by Daniel Purpur.
It was started as a way to bring awareness to the harms of industrial farming/Big Pharma type corporations that are responsible for plaguing both our health and environment.
It was about exposing corruption, and offering/inspiring solutions.

The venture started out first by converting an unused bedroom into a microgreen farm,
to then turning the entire front yard of his house into a high intensity vegetable farm, set up with over head irrigation, water timers and rain water, much of which was inspired by Urban Farmer Curtis Stone.
Daniel also spent a couple years taking a passion into building a variety style of garden boxes ranging in size, price and complexity. 


Eventually as Daniel learned more about living off the land, he became obsessed with foraging and particularly  fixated on mushroom for their bizarre fascinating roll in the environment, and their high price value for their culinary and medicinal applications.
Daniel realized there was something here as this was a very untapped, niche and valuable market. 
So around 2021, Daniel started to learn how to grow mushrooms through a variety of books, youtube videos, and mushroom growing facebook community groups.
There was so much to learn, trouble shoot, and equipment to buy, but eventually Daniel has made Mushrooms a main part to his Urban Farming business.

He has grown Oyster, King Oyster, Lions Mane, Reishi, Chestnut, Shitake, as well as some others ;)
Unsold fresh mushrooms are dehydrated in sun (when available) and than also in a custom built food dehydrator he designed and built himself. (Can be seen in shop section of website)
The now preserved mushrooms are added to his product in different ways, such as
Medicinal Mushroom Powders, Mushroom Seasonings, Mushroom Jerky, Purps Soup, etc.

Purps Produce can't grow every mushroom he wants to offer people, so he has used his expertise to source and partner with another mushrooms growing company to supplement what he can't grow.
Daniels mushroom growing expertise was crucial in sourcing the right company to partner with and this is where most other supplement companies fall off the wagon, as they don't have any experience or grow any mushrooms themselves, so they do not know the fine nuances which are critical for growing/harvesting/processing that determine the quality of the final mushroom product. 
In fact, many other mushroom supplement companies are selling 90% grain filler.

While Daniel will not disclose his partnership company he can assure you that it is
100% Organic, 100% Fruiting Body, No Grain Filler, and 3rd party tested for both impurities and medicinal compounds.

You will see other companies make similar claims, but all I will tell you is many have little to no mushroom growing experience themselves, plus I have caught many of them lying on packaging, websites etc, as well as there customer service. It is appallingly bad and disturbing on many levels.
